In the beginning… The Tennessee T’s Model T Ford Club had it’s early start in Humphreys County, TN in 1998. While on a tour in Hendersonville, NC, two Model T owners (Larry Williams and Lynn Cook) had an idea to drive the Natchez Trace Parkway. This conversation led our club to what it is today.
Both the club and the Natchez Trace Tour started in the same year, as a matter of fact, the club was officially chartered by the Model T Ford Club International (MTFCI) just 3 days before the kick-off of the very first Natchez Trace Tour. This small group of two soon grew to six. The tour became an annual event and the number of participating cars and people grew.
The 5 original members who started the Tennessee T’s Model T Club, which was chartered by the Model T Ford Club International on October 8, 1998 were:
• Larry and Carolyn Williams
• Mac and Ernestine Flowers
• Lynn and Sue Cook
• Don and Mary Helen Meadows
• Willis and Norma Hampton
The beginning date of the first Natchez Trace Tour was October 11, 1998 .
These six cars on the inaugural tour were owned and driven by:
• Larry and Carolyn Williams
• Lynn and Sue Cook
• Bill and Isabelle Guiney
• Sandy Lynch
• Max Larson
• Bill Cummings
A total of 10 annual Natchez Trace Tours were hosted by our club. That is quite a run!
Update!! Mark and Paula Gember have successfully hosted a resurrected a run of the Trace Tradition. Read about it in the June 2017 Newsletter.
