General meetings are held on the 2nd Friday of each month (except January) at 8.00 pm at the Ashburton library meeting room, 154 High Street, Ashburton. We welcome new members. If you are interested in joining the club, please come along to a meeting. Meetings start promptly and usually include a guest speaker and informal supper. Meetings generally conclude at approximately 10.00 pm.
Club runs
Club runs are held monthly, usually on the Sunday following the general meeting. These are usually day-events (but can be held over a weekend) in the surrounding suburbs and regions of Melbourne. Typically club members will start at a meeting point, travel to a local point of interest for lunch and then return home. Bring your own food and be prepared for an enjoyable day out in your T. Club run details are published in the newsletter. Club members are encouraged to propose runs. 100 to 200 km per day. Back up vehicle with trailer is usually provided on longer runs. The public enjoy seeing the cars – be prepared to meet interested people and have a chat. It is great to drive out with your T amongst other fellow members. Be aware of and considerate to modern vehicles on the road, and remember to bring your log book. For more details, see the red plate scheme page.
Long weekend rallies
The highlights of our annual touring calendar are the long weekend rallies held over the Labor Day and Melbourne Cup weekends. These rallies are usually hosted by our country members in an area of interest and generally attract over 25 cars.
National Rallies
Members also participate in national rallies which are held every 3 years in conjunction with the South Australian, Queensland and New South Wales Model T Ford Clubs. The next National Rally will be hosted by the Model T Owners Queensland Club in 2019 at Maryborough, Queensland. For all rally information visit the MTOQ’s event website.
Swap meet
The Club holds its own swap meeting exclusively for early Ford parts. Held in Ringwood, this event gives club members a chance to offload their stash and find new treasures. A sausage sizzle finishes off the day.
Auction night
An annual auction night is held as part of a monthly general meeting, usually in September/October. This is a fun evening/informal auction where club members can bring parts to sell and everyone gets into the spirit of the auction. The club does not take a handling fee – all monies are passed directly from buyer to seller.
