Moderator: Lauren Pheeney Della Monica Participants on Panel: Sam Cady, Diana Horowitz, and Karen Kitchel Topic: The Environment in Landscape Painting Artists will address what the physical world means in the paintings, the meaning of representations of the natural world, and attention to natural resources in the land. Bios: Lauren P. Della Monica Sam Cady Diana Horowitz Karen Kitchel Lauren P. Della Monica With her Fine Arts Degree from Vanderbilt University behind her, Lauren P. Della Monica applied her interests to a graduate degree from Christie’s Education in Connoisseurship. From there, she gained additional experience at the Michael Rosenfeld Gallery, a well-regarded American paintings gallery in Manhattan, and worked within the Citibank Private Bank Art Advisory Service. To complement her fine arts education and training, Lauren obtained her juris doctorate degree from Brooklyn Law School, and practiced commercial litigation and art law before she established LPDM Fine Art Consulting in 2004. 2013 brought the launch of Painted Landscapes: Contemporary Views (Schiffer Publishing). Her first book, a visual survey of 19th century American marine painting (Flying the Colors), was published in 2009 and brought to light many pieces that had never been published before. Her most recent book, Bodies of Work: Contemporary Figurative Painting, was published in January 2016. Lauren divides her time between New York and Litchfield County, CT, where she shares her homes with her husband and their dogs, George and Harry. Her Westphalian gelding, Phineus, is the latest addition to the family and allows Lauren to pursue her passion for the art of dressage. Art consultant, curator, and author Lauren Pheeney Della Monica has spent twenty years training and working in the New York art world. Lauren founded LPDM Fine Art Consulting in 2004. As an art consultant, she works with private collectors to curate exceptional art collections tailored to each collector’s interests and tastes. Lauren has an extensive educational background in the arts as well as professional experience in all aspects of the art world, including the auction house, art gallery and art advisory businesses. Following graduation from Vanderbilt University, with a double major in Fine Arts and Spanish Literature, Lauren completed a professional program in art history and connoisseurship at Christie’s Education, New York, where she received her Royal Society of Arts Certificate.
